That Fantastic Point System

FYI, if your points decreased today, it was due to the discovery and fixing of a bug. Sorry about that and thanks for your patience!

However, we are currently using a NEW and IMPROVED point system in which it is actually EASIER to win points than before.

yay!

If you have questions on the point system feel free to drop a line.

3rd Contest: 3 Prizes: 3 Ways to Win

The third contest is starting in mere hours - check the contest page and polish your paddle.

As before, you can win through skill or luck. Our Grand Prize #2 (semi-random) winner last time had only 10 contest points! You, too, can be a winner.

Keys to winning:

  1. Invite friends and get them involved
  2. Send spanks
  3. Keep your quality rating high

If you are unmoved by the prizes, say so at contact us. If you have any recommendations for prizes at around $300 they will be promptly incorporated.

Note: Effective now, there is a little change in the SpankDroid mail policy. The SpankDroid will mail you to alert you that a contest is beginning (or about anything else) only if you are his friend. So, if you want contest alerts, visit his profile and send him a friend request.

It is now Easier to Win Points

FYI, in response to feedback from the spanker community, it's now a bit easier to win points on Linkspank, both during the contests and in general.

How you win points is the same as before: by inviting friends to the site, and sending linkspanks. (It's also helpful to keep that quality rating high!)

Linkspank in Pictures

The site now features a site preview -- it shows some of the basic things that you can do on linkspank.

For the first-time visitor, the preview is tough to miss because there is a big button there if you're logged out. But if you log into linkspank automatically with a cookie you might not have seen Linkspank in Pictures yet.

You may find it helpful if you have signed up for Linkspank and still don't understand what's going on.

For more details, see the help page, or drop me a line at the contact us page.

Dear Spankdroid: "How do you lose points?"

Q: How do you lose points?

A: that is a very patient way of asking WTF?!?!?!? :-)

if your quality rating goes down, then your total points will go down. it will affect the points you earn from linkspanks, but not the points you earn from inviting friends.

you can see which points come from where at your profile on the link "more about your score"

your quality rating increases the more people open your mail, and the more they watch the embedded or click on the link you've sent.

possible strategies to increase your quality rating may include: writing informative headlines for links; writing enticing descriptions; matching the type of links with what recipients like the most.

sending fewer linkspanks may improve your quality rating. on the other hand, sending lots of links may be a good way to get new users involved, which gets your points from friends.

sending a linkspank to someone who doesn't log in often does not hurt your quality rating...it depends on whether they read your mail once they log in.
